Xmas break pics

Caleb, Alex and I took a tour of the Pepsi center but since the Avalanche where playing that night the arena was setup with the hockey rink. However, we did get to tour the Nuggets practice court, weight room and Caleb’s favorite - the showers (take note of the shower head height).

Joshies first attempt at ice skating.

The Crystal Method @ the Fox

TCM finally played a show in our area that was all ages so I was able to take Alex. Alex and I have seen a bunch of concerts at the Fox but this time she got to have the mini-rockstar experience. Scott, Ken and Josh where super gracious (as always) and made Alex feel like part of the family. I think the highlight for her was watching the show on the stage and getting her very own all access pass.

(Thanks Chad)

Are you with the band?

Not even close - but at least I can act like it now!

Scott and Ken (aka The Crystal Method) where in town this past Thursday and they tricked me up to their hotel room before their show and surprised me with a VERY special gift. A platinum plaque for Vegas… with my motha$#&@ name on it!!! Since this is the record that basically changed my life I honestly can’t come up with the words to explain how special this is to me.

Thanks for everything Ken, Scott, Geoff, Josh and SuzAnn (where ever you are!).

New commute

Along with over half of the original Texture media staff, I finally decided to leave Crispin Porter & Bogusky. Killer work, shitty culture. That’s all I have to say about it.

So now I’m with Xylem Digital in downtown Denver.  They are one of the premier Flash shops in the country so it should be a great fit for me. The commute into the city will take some getting used to but hey, who doesn’t enjoy a little road rage from time to time?
Pictures below: 1) Looking west towards Coor’s stadium 2)Looking south towards the city 3) Looking down at the Denver Rescue Mission - freashly hosed off area where a lot of homeless people sleep 4) Empty lunchtime office.

Arts and motha&%#@! crafts

This year for Halloween Josh decided he wanted to be Pacman. He’s played the game a couple times but I honestly have no clue why he picked it. I tried talking him into other things that he’s way more interested in (penguin, dinosaur, etc.) but for whatever reason, he had to be pacman. Being the arts & crafts master of the house… I couldn’t let him down.

San Jose Tattoo Convention

The main purpose of this trip was to get my arm photographed for a book coming out next year titled Bloodwork. However, it was the good times of hanging out with some like minded tattood freaks that made the trip so memorable. Joel, JoJo, Combo & Nicki, BryChi, Bruce and Adrian - we packed as much as we could in our short three day trip.

The convention itself is hard to describe. It was like going to an art gallery only the paintings where walking around and spilling drinks on you. Overall everyone was super friendly and I received lots of awesome complements on my sleeve.

Outside there where plenty of bad ass California customs. While taking the pictures of the Hells Angels bikes I couldn’t help but think of that scene from Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.

On Saturday we drove up to San Franscisco to check out the sights and eat some fresh seafood.

In the harbor was one of the worlds largest personal sailing yachts - The Maltese Falcon.

I think it’s a CA law that you must take at least one silly picture of Alcatraz if you’re in SF.

Diner on the warf.

Obama is apparently having problems with the drunk Latino vote.

Limo ride to China town (Right to left - Joel, JoJo, Nicki and Combo).

Last but not least - heaven on a bun.

One side done, one to go

It’s hard to capture in photos but the detail in this is crazy. I’ll try and get some better pictures up this weekend.

“He doesn’t look Autistic…”

You’d be surprised how often people say this to me. I don’t really know what an autistic is supposed to look like but I would imagine it’s something like the first couple of pictures (Josh and I went to the new dinosaur exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science today). Now I know what you’re saying… “but Miles, that’s just cute!”. What you’re not seeing is that Josh had to mimic the position of every dinosaur he took a picture with. The only way I was able to get the two normal looking pictures was to bribe him with the gift shop.

The best part of the day for me was Josh correcting one of the museum staff that the dinosaur they where talking about was a Pachyrhinosaurus and not a Protoceratops. This is easy to tell because of their big nose and everyone knows that Pachyrhinosaurus means “Thick-nosed Lizard”. Duh.

Run Forrest Run!

Joshie’s school had their annual Jog-a-thon today and he did awesome. I had him run the first lap by himself so I could take pictures but we jogged the remaining 8 laps (1 mile) together. Aside from sweeting like a pig, it was a lot of fun.

Pic 1: they tracked how far each kid ran by punching a card every time they completed a lap.
